Junji Ito, an anime artist, while enjoying the respect of the Manga community, is entering the Web3 space. The new NFT collection by Junji Ito will feature the artist’s work, Tomie.

A few other Japanese artists have also worked in the Web3 space. Mainly, Takashi Murakami has achieved great success after associating with RTKFT. The NFT collection will be released on the Ethereum blockchain.

Quick Take:

  • Manga artist Junji Ito is entering the Web3 space with Tomie horror-theme NFTs.
  • ANIMETA will take care of the NFT drop, which will happen in November.
  • Tomie is Junji Ito’s first published work, which got the artist Kazuo Umezu award.

Tomie Is Junji Ito’s First Published Work

The Tomie NFTs will drop in November, and all the NFTs have random traits of the main character. The entire collection features one horror-themed character, Tomie. The Japanese artist is launching the collection in association with ANIMETA web3 platform. The probable name of the collection is “Tomie by Junji Ito.”

The character Tomie comes from the era of the 80s. At that time, Tomie was featured in the Monthly Halloween magazine. After coming in magazines for 13 years, the anime character was also a part of horror films between 1999 and 2011.

Tomie can make any man or woman fall in love and make them do dangerous things or acts of violence. Junji Ito is one of the big names coming into the Web3 space with NFTs.

Other Japanese Artists Have Also Come Into The Web3 Space

Takashi Murakami, another Japanese artist partners up with RTKFT and SuperRate to launch NFT collections. Takashi Murakami also launched in-person galleries in New York City and Los Angeles.

The majority of the NFT industry is going through a slump. Even then, the artists are getting the better side of the pie. The artists are achieving great success with these NFT collections.

A few days back, Tyler Hobbs raised $17 million with the NFT collection QOL. With Juni Ito’s entry into the Web3 space, the hopes for another great outcome are high. Will Junji’s NFT collection repeat the performance of other artists’ collections?

For Junji Ito, the artist’s existing fandom can play an important role in creating the project’s hype.
