On January 12, 2023, the ESPN World Salsa Championships celebrated their 15th anniversary by releasing an NFT collection.

Quick Take:

  • On January 12, 2023, the ESPN World Salsa Championships celebrated its 15th anniversary with an NFT collection.
  • In addition to the sentimental and historical value that buyers will appreciate, the featured dancers will also profit.
  • The NFTs are available for purchase on the Championship’s website as well as on OpenSea.

While many of us do not often equate NFTs with dancing, the competition’s organizers and Noel Roque, CEO of World Dance Group, took the risk of linking the two. As a result, the WSC Golden Moves NFT series was created to pay tribute to the competition’s legacy.

ESPN: Golden Moves NFT Collection

WSC ESPN Golden Moves NFT collection honours all former contestants who have competed in the championship since 2005. This one-of-a-kind celebration of salsa dancing skills will include dancers from around the globe.

The Golden Moves NFT collection will comprise digital art styles created by some of the best salsa dancers. The collection will also include video recordings from previous years’ dance performances. Further, the collection includes a caricature by artist Fernando L. Roque based on a group photo shot during the 2016 NFT sixth edition in Atlanta, Georgia.

Additionally, dancers will get a special Christmas bonus since World Dance Group will divide its revenues with the dancers featured in every video moment. Paddy Jones, the 88-year-old salsa dancer who holds the Guinness World Record for ‘Oldest Acrobatic Salsa Dancer,’ is the project’s godmother. She and her dancing partner Nico Espinosa will be the main characters in Golden Moves NFT #23.

The NFTs are available on OpenSea Marketplace and the World Salsa Championships website. Fans may purchase, sell, and trade their own NFT collections from these platforms. Users can mint each NFT in the collection on the Ethereum blockchain. The price of each ESPN NFT will be 0.04 ETH, or around $62.

The launch of ESPN Golden Moves NFTs is a significant achievement for both Globe Dance Group and the ESPN™ World Salsa Championships. It is a perfect tribute to 15 years of spectacular performances that have entertained audiences all around the globe.
