The Hong Kong Rugby Union NFT marketplace will offer team card NFTs for sale ahead of the competition
On October 29, the Hong Kong Rugby Union (HKRU) announced the launch of its first-ever NFT marketplace “Hong Kong Sevens“, powered by NuArca Labs.
Quik Take:
- The hub for buying, selling and trading NFTs aims to connect rugby fans to games
- The platform will help HKRU give more back to fans enabling them to own “a part of the action”
- Fans attending upcoming tournaments will be able to partake in a “treasure hunt” to unlock NFTs
NuArca Labs vs. Hong Kong Rugby Union
NuArca Labs is a leading NFT innovator powering the HKRU NFT marketplace.
The company took to Twitter to share the good news and promote rewards:
Reasons for the partnership include making transactions simple via its white-label platform and allowing members to buy NFTs with a credit card—rather than needing to set up a digital wallet like MetaMask.
The benefits of members being able to pay for the NFTs with fiat include allowing anyone to be a part of the fun. This way, everyone can enjoy the benefits of blockchain technology.
Interestingly, HKRU is one of many partnerships of NuArca Labs. The NFT innovator also supports Major League Rugby, Rugby League World Cup 2021, Hull FC, and other sports IP holders.
About the Digital Collectibles on HKRU’s Marketplace
The HKRU marketplace will feature the most iconic moments in HK7’s history, alongside art, images and other unique digital collectibles.
The platform will launch four different types of digital collectibles which include team cards as NFTs ahead of the sevens tournament.
During the tournament, the marketplace will auction game ball and jersey NFTs.
Additionally, all attendees of the Hong Kong FinTech Week and Golf Day will have the opportunity to win unique, free commemorative NFTs.
Holders will also get the chance to win free tickets to the games this November, alongside the chance to win the Golden Ticket for VIP access into the stadium.
Other Perks – Reasons for Becoming a Member
To celebrate the launch of the NFT marketplace, HKRU will drop free NFTs, showcasing its mascot of a flying red dragon mascot dubbed Wai Bei.
Interestingly, HKRU made up a story about the dragon during the Covid-19 lockdown and how it went missing during the midst of the pandemic. It was finally found in the metaverse.
All fans that log into the new marketplace until November 3 will receive a free NFT featuring the dragon itself.
Moreover, fans attending the upcoming tournament of Hong Kong 7s can join in on the treasure hunt “Where’s Wai Bei?”
The rule of the game includes attendees hunting for 5 QR codes hidden throughout the stadium. Each code unlocks Wai Bei collectibles, and the person who finds all five will enter a VIP tournament experience.
The idea behind the game is to “playfully engage with fans in novel ways and introduce them to exciting and innovative digital experiences.”
