The Nouns NFT project has announced its participation in the iconic Rose Parade on January 2, 2023.
Quick Take:
- The Rose Parade will feature a parade float based on the Nouns NFT project next week.
- Stoopid Buddy Stoodios proposed and built the project, co-founded by actor Seth Green.
What’s the Project all about?
The Nouns NFT project has already been in a Super Bowl ad and an indie movie. The next step is for the pixel characters and their boxy glasses (called “Noggles”) to jump into the real world as part of next week’s Rose Parade. Notably, Nouns DAO voted on and fund the whole project.
As part of the 134th annual Rose Parade in Pasadena, California, on January 2, 2023, there will be a float with a Nouns theme and six people dressed up as Nouns. Given that, the parade is held before the Rose Bowl college football game between Penn State and Utah.
In April, the creators of “Robot Chicken” and “Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.,” Buddy Stoodios, pitched the idea to the Nouns community. Actor Seth Green, himself an NFT enthusiast, proposed creating the parade float, and costumes and filming the entire event for a documentary.
Noun NFTs at the Parade
Nouns is a unique Ethereum-based project that auctions off a single NFT pixel character every day. Additionally, the money raised goes into a community fund. Noun owners can vote on proposals that use this treasury. The treasury which currently holds about $32.7 million worth of ETH, funds projects that further the project’s goal of building open-source IP.
As mentioned, the Nouns glasses were in a Bud Light Super Bowl ad and on limited-edition cans of the popular beer. Plus, Nouns will feature in an independent movie “Calladita,” and the DAO has funded projects like physical Noggles, Web3 education projects, and a show at New York Fashion Week.
“The goal of Nouns is to proliferate the meme. The Rose Parade is a cultural institution in America with a viewing audience over 30 million every year. As a volunteer-run event that focuses on fun, creativity, and community, it’s the perfect fit for Nouns, which shares those values and that culture.”

In this case, Stoopid Buddy Stoodios requested nearly 610 ETH to fund the creation of the parade float, costumes, and film. The DAO approved the proposal in June. The funding was valued at over $1.1 million as of June 1, when the proposal passed. Now, the 610 ETH is only worth about $723,000 today due to the declining value of Ethereum.
Further Developments
Moving along, Stoopid Buddy announced that its “Meet the Nouns” float and costumed characters are all set for Monday’s parade. The six costumes emphasize project traits rather than Nouns NFT avatars. These costumes use randomized character attributes. One references “Robot Chicken,” its stop-motion animation hit.
In addition to its TV series, Stoopid Buddy Stoodios also creates the costumes for Fox’s competition series. This includes “The Masked Singer,” and animation for Marvel’s recent “The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.” Earlier this year, the studio released its own Stoopid Monkey NFTs via Nifty Gateway.
