Google has geared up an update on its blockchain advertising policy. The multinational technology titan will finally start supporting NFT gaming ad promotions beginning September 15 — but check the fine print!
Quick Takes:
- Google is updating its advertising policy to support NFT gaming ads next week.
- NFT gaming advertisers can promote projects, providing they meet Google’s criteria.
- Approved ads will focus on NFT games that include in-game item acquisitions.
Google’s Promotional NFT Game Plan
Under Google’s new ad policy, NFT gaming advertisers can get the green light to endorse their projects. However, promoters seeking this opportunity must ensure their games meet Google’s strict criteria.
The approved advertisements will embrace NFT games that facilitate in-game item acquisitions, like virtual clothing for in-game characters or armory and weaponry that boost users’ performances.
Although, there are strict boundaries in place. Advertisers cannot promote NFT games that involve players wagering or staking NFTs to win real-world rewards, like other NFTs or cryptocurrencies.
On top of that, social casino games granting NFT rewards, like slots, simulated poker, or roulette, will mostly be off-limits. Advertisers looking to run gambling-related ads with NFTs must comply with Google’s Gambling and Games Policy and safeguard a Google Ads Certification.
It’s critical that all Web3-related ad promoters also respect the local laws in regions where their ads are targeted.
Google had recently enforced a comprehensive ban on cryptocurrency-related advertisements across its platforms. Nonetheless, this Google NFT advertising policy update underscores the company’s now committed to blockchain-based adverts, accommodating the evolving NFT gaming landscape within established parameters.
