- The toolkit makes it easier for developers and merchants to add web3 features to their online stores and websites.
CommerceKit Simplifies Web3 Integration for E-Commerce
Shopify and web3 infrastructure startup Thirdweb have partnered to launch CommerceKit. The web3 app developer toolkit enables the integration of web3 capabilities into e-commerce applications.
CommerceKit will allow developers and e-commerce merchants to add web3 features to their stores and websites without having to deal with the complexities of blockchain technology, according to a thirdweb blog post.
Then, they could use web3-enabled e-commerce applications to offer a variety of products, such as token-gated access, on-chain loyalty programs, and NFT-based digital collectibles.
“As a merchant, understanding your customers and discovering new buyer segments is mission-critical to running a successful business. We’re excited to partner with thirdweb, the fastest shipping team in Web3, to help make smart contracts and Web3 wallet addresses an essential part of the commerce and loyalty toolkit.”
ALEX DANCO, DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT AT SHOPIFY
Additionally, stores will be able to combine on-chain data with existing web2 data to gain comprehensive customer insights. This will assist them in creating more customized shopping experiences and launching targeted marketing campaigns.
On the other hand, consumers who are not crypto-native will be able to interact with web3 experiences without prior crypto knowledge. They will also be able to sign in seamlessly and purchase digital collectibles such as NFTs with credit cards. CommerceKit enables developers to integrate popular cryptocurrency wallets, such as MetaMask and Coinbase, for crypto-native customers.
