UnicornDAO: A LGBTQ and feminist movement using Web3 capabilities
UnicornDAO, a women-led organization in the Web3 space, raised $4.5 million to empower women and LGBTQ-led NFT initiatives.
All UnicornDAO members—including the artists Grimes, Sia, Diana Sinclair, and the digital artist Beeple—contribute their capital and time to advance the DAO.
Additionally, investments came from state-of-the-art NFT projects, including World of Women, MoonBirds, Tribute Labs, and more.
BEHIND THE DAO
The leader of UnicornDAO, Nayda Tolokonnikova, is a founding member of the Russian art collective Pussy Riot. She is admired for selling an NFT of the Ukrainian flag for nearly $7 million to support against the Ukrainian war.
Tolokonnivoka continued her mission and vision for equality by launching UnicornDAO in March 2022. Instead, focusing on LGBTQ and women’s rights issues around the globe.
PROMOTE EQUALITY
Despite being a feminist group, UnicornDAO is now open to public participation rather than solely attracting women. Moreover, an in-person launch will take place on June 21 at the NFT NYC.
The creators are also in the works of making a new project, Unicorn Riot, which will organize fundraisers for political rights in the United States.
